Mutation chance per egg: 3.0% · Eggs from 50 cycles: 50
Chance of at least one mutated egg: 78.2%
Expected eggs until first mutation: 34 · 90% confidence needs about 76 eggs.
Rates are datamined from the 1.0 game files (base 1% per egg, +2 percentage points with Deluxe Vegetable Cake). Pocketpair has published no official numbers; we update this the moment better data lands.
How mutation works in 1.0
Each egg produced at a Breeding Farm rolls an independent mutation chance. Because rolls are independent, odds never “build up” — the calculator uses the cumulative probability 1 − (1 − p)n. What a mutated Pal gets (datamined + early community testing): higher base stats and IVs, two condensation stars on hatch, and at least one mutation-exclusive rainbow passive.
One point is still disputed two days after launch: most sources say the mutated Pal is the same species as the normal breeding result, while Game8 claims it can hatch into a random species of a similar tier. We’ll settle this row as testing converges.
Mutation-exclusive passives
These rainbow passives only come from mutated Pals (datamined internal IDs MutationPal_*).
| Passive | Effect |
|---|---|
| Immortality | Attack +15%, Pal auto health regeneration rate +100%, Life Steal +5% |
| Idiosyncratic | Pal & player auto health regeneration rate +50%, Defense +25%, immune to Poison damage, immune to Burn damage |
| Babysitter | Egg production speed +30% and incubation speed +30% for Pals assigned to a Breeding Farm |
| Heavily Armored | Immune to explosion damage |
Other rainbow passives mutated Pals can roll
Also obtainable elsewhere (e.g. rare fishing catches), but they show up on mutated Pals too.
| Passive | Effect |
|---|---|
| Skymarcher | Mounted jump count +2 |
| Lightfooted | Mounted jump count +1 |
| Ranch Master | Farming work suitability +2 |
| Lavish Hospitality | Dropped items +100% (applies only to the Pal carrying it; pays out on capture and on butcher) |
What raises the mutation chance — and what doesn’t
- Deluxe Vegetable Cake: +2 percentage points (1% → 3% per egg). The main lever.
- Vegetable Cake: no rate boost, but two eggs per cycle — double the rolls for cheaper ingredients.
- Mushroom Cake: no mutation effect; adds 1–5 IV talent points instead.
- Myth check: no evidence any structure (“monitoring station”, Ancient Hatchery) or breeding two mutated parents changes the mutation rate.
Set up the right parent pair first with the breeding calculator, and lock your passive pool with the passive skill calculator — the 1.0 Special Cake guarantees 4 inherited passives from the pool.
